How is this meant to work?
Forum Home > Public : General > How is this meant to work? This one, The Three Musketeers (GoodTimes Entertainment), the logistics and mechanics do not make sense.
You can see the scene from this link and timestamp: https://youtu.be/ZIpuhkR7DBA?t=2565
So, the executioner has an axe, right? Not historically accurate for 17th century France, but hey, they're all wearing 18th century wigs and dresses, so I appreciate accuracy is not a priority for them. Buuuutttt.... there is no block, which is kind of essential. There is a set of posts that are almost like a guillotine, except there's no blade!
I know that this is kind of nit-picky, but can someone please explain how this would work?

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say it's a deliberate joke.
Otherwise it's a lamentable lack of knowledge of European history, from folk the other side of the world. (I see it's a Japan/USA co-production)
They've obviously had a brief, a VERY brief glimpse of a guillotine illustration. But not enough to take in all the detail.
Together with something they've heard, that (English) beheadings were done with headsman and axe.
And this is the result they've come up with.
